Mongaudon is a characterful 17th-century manor set on top of a hill in a small hamlet in the Quercy Blanc, with a village church just behind the property and open farmland and vineyards falling away below. Originally the manoir of the local landowner — cattle below, family above — it was sensitively extended in the late 20th century, with further bedrooms added in the attic.
Stone walls, tall shuttered windows, and gardens that run right up to the vines. There's a raised covered terrace for long lunches, a converted bread oven turned Moroccan-styled entertaining room, and a private infinity-style pool looking out over the chasselas vines below.
The house and grounds are exclusive to you for your stay, with a local concierge on hand for anything that comes up.
The 10m × 5m pool is Mongaudon's quiet centrepiece, set below the house and its historic pigeonnier, with Roman steps easing you in and the chasselas vines rolling away beneath the terrace. As one guest put it: if there's a better view to live in peace and quiet, we haven't found it.
